Kolkata, Sept. 8 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the money trails in alleged illegal sand mining, today began fresh raids at multiple locations, including Kolkata and two other districts in West Bengal, official sources said.

"The ED sleuths, accompanied by the CRPF, have started intensive search operations from early morning in at least 22 places where the suspects have connections and run syndicates in illegal sand mining and have transferred the funds into businesses and opened new companies", said a source said.

ED officials, aided by the armed CRPF, were seen searching Kolkata's two locations, one at James Long Sarani, and Regent Park Colony, both in south Kolkata.
