Kochi, Jan. 21 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has stepped up its probe into the alleged misappropriation of gold linked to the Sabarimala temple by attaching properties valued at around Rs 1.3 crore.

The attachment follows extensive searches and financial tracking of individuals suspected of illegally diverting gold offerings.

According to sources, the attached assets are believed to have been acquired using proceeds generated from the alleged offence.

As part of its money-laundering investigation, the ED on Tuesday conducted searches at multiple locations across Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Among the premises searched was Smart Creations, a Chennai-based firm involved in gold plating works.
