Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 -- The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has urged passengers to refrain from misusing the Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) facility on trains.

Officials warned that frequent and unnecessary use of alarm chains causes train delays, disrupts schedules, and inconveniences to thousands of fellow passengers.

ECoR sources said that on September 24 alone, the Khurda Road Division recorded 10 cases of alarm chain pulling, resulting in five arrests for unlawful use.

The ACP mechanism is intended strictly for genuine emergencies such as medical issues, fire hazards, or threats to passenger safety. Misuse not only interrupts train operations but also attracts strict penalties under the Railway Act.
