Bhubaneswar, Oct. 16 -- The Khurda Road Division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has intensified safety measures by launching a special drive to curb the illegal carriage of firecrackers and other inflammable materials in passenger trains ahead of Diwali.
Carrying dangerous goods such as firecrackers, gas cylinders, acid, petrol, kerosene, or similar inflammable items is strictly prohibited under the Railways Act, 1989. Violators may face imprisonment for up to three years.
To ensure safe travel during the festive season, the Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, has directed officials to maintain strict vigil on passenger movements and intensify inspections at stations, parcel offices, and train platforms.
