New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- As India enters a new phase of economic transformation under the recently implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms from today, union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav has underscored the urgent need for synchronising ecological safeguards with the country's economic ambitions.

"With India charting its path towards a USD 5 trillion economy, historic reforms like the new GST regime demand that we evolve our environmental regulations in tandem. Economy and ecology must go hand-in-hand," Yadav said, addressing a gathering of environmental policymakers, scientists and government officials at the 51st Foundation Day of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) here.
