Chandigarh, Sept. 26 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced its 30th initiative in six months to streamline the electoral process, focusing on improving the counting of postal ballots to ensure efficiency and clarity.

A spokesperson for the ECI announced that the revised process addresses potential delays in vote counting, particularly with the recent rise in postal ballots due to home voting facilities for persons with disabilities and senior citizens aged 85 and above.

The counting process comprises two main components: postal ballots, including Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballots (ETPBs), and Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes.
