Aizawl, Nov. 10 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has censured Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma for breaching the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during campaigning for the Dampa Assembly bye-election, which goes to the polls on Tuesday.
The ECI's action came after it reviewed a report from the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) along with the written explanation submitted by Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) president Lalliansawta. Finding the reply "unsatisfactory," the Commission condemned the remarks made by the chief minister and directed the ruling party to exercise restraint in its campaign rhetoric.
