Kolkata, Jan. 11 -- The Election Commission of India has okayed a proposal to use tea garden and cinchona plantation records as document for verification with regard to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in seven districts of northern West Bengal, according to official sources.

In a communication to the state's Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, the ECI said "The Commission has no objection to the proposal for the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur".
