New Delhi, Sept. 17 -- In a move aimed at enhancing voter clarity and reducing confusion during elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that all Electronic Voting Machine (EVMs) will now have colour photographs of candidates.

The ECI has revised the existing guidelines under Rule 49B of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, for the design and printing of EVM ballot papers to enhance their clarity and readability, an official statement said.

The updated ballot papers will now feature colour photographs of candidates for the first time, beginning with the upcoming elections in Bihar. The candidate's face will occupy three-fourths of the photo space to ensure better visibility for voters.
