New Delhi, Dec. 6 -- The Election Commission of India on Friday extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Kerala by one week, citing the ongoing Local Self Governance Institutions (LSGI) elections in the state.

The decision was made after the Government of Kerala approached the Supreme Court, seeking deferment of the SIR. The apex court directed the ECI to consider the state's request and pass an appropriate order within two days.

According to the revised schedule, the enumeration phase will now conclude by December 18, 2025, and the draft electoral roll will be published on December 23, 2025. The period for filing claims and objections has been extended to January 22, 2026.
