New Delhi, Feb. 6 -- The Election Commission of India on Friday extended the deadline for filing claims and objections in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh by a month, pushing the last date to March 6, 2026. The revision was being carried out with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.
The decision comes after the Commission considered a request from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh, seeking more time to facilitate wider public participation in the revision process.
"In exercise of the powers conferred under the proviso to Rule 12 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, the Commission has decided to extend the period for filing claims and objections up to 06.03.2026," the EC...
