New Delhi, March 19 -- Election Commission on Tuesday appointed two former civil servants, Shailendra Handa and Madhu Mahajan as special expenditure observers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to an official statement by the Commission, Mr Handa, ex IRS (1980) has been appointed in Maharashtra and Ms Mahajan ex-IRS (1982) in Tamil Nadu.
"Both these officers have a rich experience of working in investigation wing of IT department and have supervised many successful search and seizure operations unearthing tax evasion in complicated cases", the Commission said.
