Kolkata, Dec. 9 -- The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a stern warning that any attempt to forge government documents or identity papers during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in West Bengal will invite stringent legal action.
In a written statement, the office of the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) here said offenders will face punishment under the law, including imprisonment and fines.
