Kolkata, April 18 -- In a significant disciplinary action, the Election Commission has suspended four Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in separate incidents in North 24 Parganas and Birbhum districts over alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The suspension coming just ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections is indicative enough that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is committed to conducting a free and fair polling process.
The Election Commission action was based on the allegations that the officials were engaged in political activities, thereby compromising their mandated neutrality.
