EC suspends five poll officials for alleged dereliction of duty like sharing password

Kolkata, Aug. 5 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) today suspended five poll officials, two of them ERO and as as many AERO and a database official for alleged dereliction of duty like sharing confidential password for entry of names in the electoral rolls, official sources said,

The country's top poll panel also directed the state chief electoral officer to file the FIRs against them.

The suspended officials are identified as Electoral Registration Officer Debottam Dutta Choudhury (WBCS) of Baruipur Purba in South 24 Parganas and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer Tathagata Mondal (AERO) of the same segment, ERO Biplab Sarkar (WBCS) and Sudipta Das (AERO) of Moyna in Tamluk (East Medinipur).
