New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) today dismissed the allegations made by leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on vote deletion, calling them "incorrect and baseless."The Election Commission in a statement said that "no deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public", countering claims made by Rahul Gandhi.
It emphasised that no deletion can take place without giving an opportunity of being heard to the affected person.
The ECI further stated that in 2023, there were some unsuccessful attempts to delete electors from the Aland Assembly Constituency voters' list. In response, the Commission itself filed an FIR to investigate the matter thoroughly.
