Chennai, March 7 -- In a major haul, the Enforcement Bureau CID (EB-CID),
Tamil Nadu, on Friday seized 1,755 litres of spurious Goa liquor from a lorry
near Tiruppur district and two people were arrested in this connection.
Acting on itelligence, the EB-CID in all seized 2,340 bottles, total 1,755 litres
of liquor from the lorry being transported from Goa to Coimbatore via Krishnagiri
and Salem.
A release from EB-CID said it plays a crucial role in enforcing the Prohibition
Laws, primarily targeting the manufacturing, sale and transport of illicit spurious
liquor.
The EB conducts raids on spurious liquor manufacturing units, bootleggers and
unauthorised liquor vendors.
