Umroi, Feb. 10 -- The Indian Army's Eastern Command, which is responsible for defending India's borders with China, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar, honoured its distinguished and gallant soldiers at an investiture ceremony held at at Umroi Military Station, Meghalaya, today.

The prestigious ceremony was presided over by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari.

A total of 37 gallantry and distinguished service awards were presented, comprising 19 Sena Medals (Gallantry), seven Sena Medals (Distinguished), two Yudh Seva Medals, one Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal, seven Vishisht Seva Medals, and one Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak, in recognition of outstanding acts of valour, leadership, and selfles...
