New Delhi, Feb. 17 -- An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 hit Delhi and its adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday morning, the National Center for Seismology said.

According to the NCS, the intensity of the earthquake was measured 4.0 on the Richter scale. The epicentre of the quake was located at latitude 28.59 degrees north and longitude 77.16 degrees east at a depth of 5 km.

The quake's depth was just 5 km with Delhi as its epicenter. Strong tremors were also felt in some parts of North India.
