Chamba, Nov. 21 -- An earthquake shook parts of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh early Friday, though no loss of life or property has been reported.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremor, measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale, occurred at 12:39 am at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The quake was mild as only a few residents felt the vibrations and briefly stepped out of their homes. Most people did not notice any shaking.

Chamba district falls under Seismic Zone V, one of the most earthquake-prone regions in India, where low-intensity tremors are recorded regularly.
