Kochi, Dec. 23 -- Padma Shri awardee and veteran actor Mammootty has said culture begins with the realisation that the earth and its resources are not ours alone, but are shared by all living beings.

Inaugurating the valedictory session of the first Indian Cultural Congress here on Monday evening, Mammootty said humanity often forgets that millions of people and countless other life forms coexist on this planet.

"This earth, the air we breathe and the water we use belong equally to others as well. When we recognise this truth, we become truly civilised," he said, adding that mutual respect among human beings is the greatest form of religion.
