Los Angeles, July 8 -- It appears that fans waiting for director James Gunn's new 'Superman' film needn't worry after all, as pre-theatre release reviews have been highly positive, with critics calling the movie a 'terrific start for the DCU.'

The movie is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 11.



Part of Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran's new DCU (DC Universe), the film is an effective reboot of the previous DCEU (DC Extended Universe) which was kickstarted by director Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel'. However, studio interference by Warner Brothers saw a lot of production problems which eventually caused Snyder to quit.
