New York/New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is in New York for the UNGA, is set to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio today, in what will be their first meeting since the thawing of tense bilateral ties and as the two countries are on way to firming up an ambitious trade pact.

The meeting, to be held in the morning in New York ET, will also be the first in-person meeting between the two after the Trump administration last month slapped 50 percent tariffs on India, including 25 percent for India's purchase of Russian oil. The two ministers had last met in July on the sidelines of the Quad foreign ministers' meeting in Washington DC.
