Dumka, Dec. 1 -- A sessions court in Dumka, Jharkhand, on Monday sentenced an individual convicted of rape to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000.
The verdict was delivered by the court of First District and Additional Sessions Judge, S. N. Mishra, in connection with a case (Masalia Police Station Case No. 11/2023) involving the sexual assault of a minor girl two years ago.
Public Prosecutor Champa Kumari represented the government, presenting nine witnesses and conducting cross-examinations.
The court, after hearing arguments from both sides, convicted the accused, Moso Soren, a resident of Dhanuwasa village in the Masalia police station area, under Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
