Kolkata, Sept. 23 -- Overnight unprecedented rains have forced the Dum Dum airport authority to cancel at least 30 flights and delay the arrival and departure of another 42 flights, official sources said today.

Sources said operations at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport were heavily disrupted owing to overnight downpours lasting six hours, which led to the cancellation of 30 flights and delays to 42 others as large areas of the airport were flooded.

Both hangars and taxiways were under water, forcing the authority to cancel 30 flights.

The attendance of technical workers, engineers, and pilots was also affected as large parts of the city were inundated by over 300 mm of rainfall, severely disrupting the city's transpo...
