Almaty (Kazakhstan), Oct. 16 -- Qualifier James Duckworth stunned seventh-seeded Gabriel Diallo in a marathon second-round clash at the ATP Almaty Open, winning 7-6 (3), 6-7 (3), 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Duckworth, who did not face a single break point throughout the two-hour and 25-minute contest on Wednesday, relied on a precise serve and patient baseline play to frustrate the Canadian.

The first two sets followed identical patterns, with neither player able to break serve before exchanging tiebreaks.

Duckworth took the opener after jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the tiebreak, but Diallo respondedin kind, leveling the match by taking the second tiebreak 7-3.
