Hyderabad, Nov. 16 -- Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 1,196.20 grams of foreign-marked gold worth Rs 1.55 crore and arrested two persons in a coordinated operation spanning Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh.

Based on specific intelligence, DRI officers at the Hyderabad Zonal Unit intercepted a passenger who arrived from Sharjah at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on November 14. The man was stopped after he crossed the green channel. A search of his baggage led to the discovery of a suspicious iron box, which, when opened, revealing 11 gold bars ingeniously concealed inside.
