Lucknow, July 25 -- After the inauguration of the state-of-the-art BrahMos facility in Lucknow by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on May 11 last year, DRDO has moved a proposal of Instruments Research & Development Establishment (IRDE) to set up an Infrared Detector Technology Centre in the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).

To set up this new centre, the UP Cabinet on July 22 approved the allocation of 25 acres of land in the Lucknow node of UPDIC to IRDE to set up the above project at a token lease of Rs 1 per year, officials here on Friday confirmed.
