Hyderabad, Feb. 24 -- Telangana Minister for Labour and Mines Dr G Vivek Venkataswamy on Tuesday said the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Corporation was established with the objective of safeguarding minimum wages, workers' rights and their safety, as envisioned by Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
He was speaking after attending the ESI Foundation Day programme as the chief guest at the ESI Hospital, Sanathnagar.
He said that the welfare-oriented decisions taken for workers had provided health security to lakhs of working families across the country. Recalling his family's close association with labour welfare, Dr Vivek Venkataswamy noted that his father had served as both union and State Labour Minister.
