Washington/Ottawa, April 24 -- Days ahead of Canada's national election, US President Donald Trump has said "Canada would cease to exist as a country without the United States."Trump's latest comment is only a virtual reiteration of his oft-repeated public statements about Ottawa's territorial and economic sovereignty, which have emerged as a significant poll issue, alongside the global tariff war.
Claiming that Canada's very existence was dependent on the American purchase of Canadian goods, Trump said the US didn't actually need anything from the neighbour.
