Kozhikode, Oct. 8 -- A medical officer suffered stab injuries to the head in an attack by a person with a sword during duty hours at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital in Kozhikode district on Wednesday.
According to police, Assistant Surgeon Dr PT Vipin (36) was attacked on the head inside the hospital and sustained a skull injury.
His co-workers overpowered the attacker, identified as Sanoop of Thamarassery, and handed him to the police, preventing further assaults.
Dr Vipin was given first aid at the Taluk Hospital and later shifted to Baby Memorial Hospital.
According to hospital sources, Dr Vipin's health condition is stable, he is conscious and under observation in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
