Chandigarh, Aug. 20 -- In a shocking incident, a renowned kidney specialist, Dr. Rahul Sood, was shot in the leg by three armed assailants near the residence of MP and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh in Jalandhar yesterday around 8:30 pm.
The attack, which took place in the busy Jalandhar Heights area, has drawn sharp condemnation from Kapurthala MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who described it as "an attack on humanity."
Khaira expressed solidarity with Dr. Sood and his family, urging Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take immediate action to bring the culprits to justice.
"A doctor who saves countless lives was targeted with gunfire by unknown assailants with the intent to rob. We stand with him in this difficult time," he stated.
