DJ-free Dahi-Handi celebrated in Pune
Pune, Aug. 17 -- A sea of youth thronged the historic Lal Mahal Chowk here today for a common Dahi-Handi celebration organised by the Punit Balan Group (PBG), which was joined by 26 other mandals.
The event, held amidst chants of 'Govinda Re Gopala' and the auspicious beats of Dhol-Tasha, Mahakal Nrutya, and Mumbai-based Worli Beats, saw a huge, enthusiastic crowd dancing to the traditional tunes.
The atmosphere was charged with devotion and gaiety as the Radhekrishna Group formed a seven-layer human pyramid to win the honour of breaking the Dahi-Handi.
This year's celebration, the second since the combined festivities began, was held without DJ music, a step taken by the PBG to set an example across Maharashtra.
