Hyderabad, Oct. 20 -- Gambling during Diwali time is considered as part of tradition symbolising luck but it takes a dangerous turn and this leads to anxiety, depression and in severe cases, suicide , according to Dr Naresh Purohit, advisor- National Mental Health Programme.

With the growing influence of online gambling platforms and betting apps, people are now spending huge sums of money, many times leading to financial loss, debt and tremendous stress, said Dr Purohi, also Principal Investigator for the Association of Studies in Mental Care, in a release here on Monday.
