Los Angeles, Dec. 16 -- Disney is developing a live-action spinoff film centered on 'Gaston,' the boastful and brawny antagonist from 'Beauty and the Beast,' reports Variety.

The project will be penned by David Callaham, known for co-writing 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Details about the plot remain under wraps, and a director has yet to be announced.

Beauty and the Beast, based on the classic French fairy tale, tells the story of bookish Belle, who falls in love with a cursed Beast and lifts a spell that has transformed his castle into a home for talking household objects.
