Mumbai, June 15 -- Coming down heavily on the Maharashtra's famous Shani Shingnapur Temple Trust and the Mahayuti government, Samajwadi Party legislator Rais Shaikh said on Sunday the termination of employment based on religious identity is a clear violation of civil rights and described the dismissal of 114 Muslim employees by the Temple Trust as an 'illegal and arbitrary act'.

Shaikh held the BJP-led spiritual front and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which claims to support Muslims, responsible for the move, calling it a "black mark" on the Mahayuti government.
