Srinagar, Nov. 7 -- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today asserted that there should be "no outside interference" in the union Territory's governance, clarifying that his administration had not authorised the celebration of the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram" in schools.
His remarks came days after the Culture Department issued a circular directing educational institutions to hold commemorative events across J&K.
The Chief Minister said the decision to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the national song "Vande Mataram" in schools was not taken by the J&K Cabinet, nor had the Education Minister signed it.
