Bengaluru, Jan. 5 -- Indian teen sensation Manas Dhamne pulled off a stunning upset on the opening day of the 10th Dafa News Bengaluru Open 2026, defeating fifth seed Matej Dodig of Croatia 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 to reach the Round of 16.
The 18-year-old from Satara showcased remarkable composure, winning 78% of first-serve points and 75% at the net to claim the biggest victory of his budding career.
Dhamne applied early pressure in the first set, closing it 7-5, while Dodig fought back in the second. In the decider, the Indian broke twice to secure a commanding win.
India No. 1 and former Bengaluru Open champion Sumit Nagal also advanced with a 6-3, 6-3 win over SD Prajwal Dev.
