Kolkata, Dec. 16 -- The West Bengal government issued show-cause notices to Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar and Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Mukesh Kumar on Tuesday, seeking explanations within 24 hours for the alleged lapses that led to chaos during an event attended by football icon Lionel Messi at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Salt Lake on December 13.
The action follows the submission of the preliminary report and recommendations by the enquiry committee late on Monday night.
Acting on the report, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant also ordered departmental proceedings against Bidhannagar Police Deputy Commissioner Aneesh Sarkar for alleged negligence of duty and placed him under suspension till the complet...
