New Delhi, June 13 -- In the wake of air crash involving Boeing Dreamliner 787, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday issued guidelines to Air India for additional safety inspections and measures to be carried out before the operation and maintenance of the aircraft.

In an order issued here, the aviation regulator stated that an Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft operating flight AI-171 (Ahmedabad to Gatwick) met with an accident on Thursday. As a preventive measure, the DGCA has directed Air India to carry out additional maintenance actions on Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft equipped with Genx engines, in coordination with the concerned regional DGCA offices.
