Varanasi, Jan. 6 -- A large crowd of devotees thronged Bara Ganesh temple in Lohatiya and other sacred spots at Kashi on 'Sankashti Chaturthi' on Tuesday, the fourth day of the dark fortnight of Magh month of Hindu calendar.

Devotees offer yellow fruits, flowers, sweets, and clothes to Lord Ganesha. Women observe the Sankashti Chaturthi fast for God's blessings for their children and longevity for themselves.

A long queue of devotees was seen from DAV College road to the Bara Ganesh temple. This Chaturthi of the Magha month is also known as Sankat Chauth, Vakratundi Chaturthi, and Tilkuta Chauth. It is believed that all wishes are fulfilled by worshipping Lord Ganesha on Sankashti Chaturthi.
