Dharmasthala, Sept. 1 -- The historic temple town of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala witnessed a massive congregation of devotees today as more than a lakh people assembled for the much-awaited Dharmastala Chalo, a rally described by the BJP as a non-political movement to defend the sanctity of the shrine and demand a Central probe into what they termed false propaganda against the revered institution.
Speaking to media, BJP Karnataka president Vijayendra Yediyurappa stressed that Dharmastala Chalo was a spontaneous mobilisation of devotees hurt by recent developments.
