Puri, Dec. 23 -- The Sri Jagannath Temple administration today felicitated 69 devotees for donating seasoned Phasi timber used in the construction of chariots for the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by Sri Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Aravind Padhee and Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingh Deb, Chairman of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.

The Phasi timber, which is primarily used for making the axles of the three chariots, has become increasingly scarce. The Forest Department has been unable to meet the growing demand for this special variety of timber.
