Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 23 -- Kerala Minister for General Education and Labour, V Sivankutty, today said reports of newly elected members of local self-government institutions taking oath in violation of the legally prescribed format were a matter of serious concern and would not be legally recognised.

Talking to newspersons here, the Minister said such deviations amounted to a blatant disregard for constitutional procedures and statutory provisions governing local bodies.

He stressed that these practices undermine the dignity of constitutional institutions and cannot be allowed to continue.
