Solapur, Jan. 12 -- Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Harshwardhan Sapkal on Monday launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP during his visit to Solapur in connection with the Solapur Municipal Corporation elections.

Accusing the BJP of undermining democracy, Sapkal said the party had become "reckless" and was throttling democratic values.

"The BJP's current politics is nothing but 'throw money, stage a spectacle and win elections'," Sapkal alleged. He said civic elections are meant to focus on basic amenities and urban development, but the ruling party was deliberately avoiding discussions on real issues.
