Mumbai, Jan. 8 -- Hailing Devendra Fadnavis as the "vikas-purush" (development man), senior BJP leader Haji Arfat Shaikh on Thursday said the Maharashtra chief minister has accelerated the development of Mumbai at a time when the system was crumbling in the country's financial capital because of the mess created by Uddhav Thackeray.

The last five-year term of the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) - elected in 2017 ended on March 7, 2022. In fact, for a stretch of quarter of a century, the undivided Shiv Sena then under the leadership of Thackeray has ruled Mumbai.

Shaikh, who is former Chairperson of Maharashtra State Commission for Minorities, slammed the rule of Thackeray in the BMC.
