Mumbai, March 7 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified that the crop loan waiver announced in the state budget will apply to loans of up to Rs 2 lakh taken from all banks authorised to provide crop loans.

He said attempts were being made to deliberately create confusion among farmers regarding the scope of the scheme.

In recent days, discussions suggesting that the waiver would be limited only to loans taken from nationalised banks had triggered concern among farmers.

There were also claims that loans from district cooperative banks and credit societies would not be covered under the scheme, which led to apprehension among farming communities.
