Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 3 -- In a significant move to improve pilgrim safety and travel convenience, the Kerala Government has sanctioned Rs 377.8 crore for upgrading and renovating roads used by devotees visiting the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa hill shrine.

The fund will cover upgrades across 82 roads spanning 10 districts, aiming to ensure safer and smoother journeys during the busy Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.

Thiruvananthapuram district will receive the highest allocation, with Rs 68.90 crore dedicated to enhancing 14 roads, followed by Kollam with Rs 54.20 crore for 15 roads.
