Hyderabad, Aug. 10 -- Telangana Irrigation, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday called the J Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme (JCRDLIS) a lifeline for upland, drought-prone areas of Telangana and stressed the need for its speedy completion.
After reviewing the project at Sammakka Sarakka Barrage and the off-take point in Gangaram village, Mulugu district, Uttam said the scheme aims to irrigate 5.57 lakh acres across nine districts. With a lift of 469 metres and an annual utilisation of 38.16 TMC, the Rs 18,500-crore project is being executed in three phases.
