Jaipur, Jan. 4 -- With 4.4 degree C, the desert town of Churu in Rajasthan's Shekhawati region, remained the coldest place in plains even as the most parts of the state reeled under cold wave and dense fog during past 24 hours.

The trend of fall in minimum temperatures at many places of past 48 hours increased chill during nights, dense fog and icy Himalayan winds kept people shivering even in the day time, the Meteorological Office said here.

Besides, Churu, the neighbouring towns of Pilani at 5 degree C, Sriganganagar 6 degree C, Ajmer 5.8 degree C, also braved severe cold weather conditions.
